- DESIGN----Dean stark apparatus,also called dean stark trap,distilling trap/reservoir,used to remove water from a reflux reaction in azeotropic distillation of organic chemistry.It is designed with a graduated reservoir with standard top joint at top and 2mm PTFE stopcock which is used to collect water from a reaction, the side arm tubing with a standard male joint at bottom supplies a path for the vapor from reaction flask.
- SET UP----The dean stark trap usually works with a water-cooled reflux condenser (liebig condenser,coiled condenser,dimroth condenser),a reaction flask (round bottom flask or schlenk flask),and a separatory funnel together to finish the reflux and separation.
- DIMENSIONS----This dean stark trap is designed with 14/20 standard taper joint at top and side arm ,with 2mm PTFE stopcock for water control,and with volume graduation on the reservoir enable reaction progress to be followed by the amount of water that has been removed.The capacity of the reservoir is 5mL
