- A schlenk frit is a laboratory filtration apparatus used to filter air sensitive compounds under schlenk conditions,also called schlenk filter tube, filter stick, sintered filter stick, fritted filter stick, filter tube fritted disc, double-ended fritted filter, sintered glass filter tube.It is used as a filter funnel to separate the air-and water-sensitive mixture with the schlenk flask in a schlenk line.
- It is uaually used in filtration under inert gas with schlenk flasks (round bottom flask with glass stopcock at side arm).The Schlenk frit is attached to a schlenk flask containing mixture and closed at the top end with a second flask. The whole set is turned 180° to start filtration. The liquid parts of the reaction go through the filter while the solid parts remain.
